We are organising a charity event meant to help children suffering from cancer from the Childeren's Hospital in Timisoara.
The 1st of March is the Mărţişor day in Romania - one of the most beloved Romanian traditions as it marks the beginning of spring in our country. The “mărţişor” or march trinket, is nothing but a small piece of plastic, pottery, dried flowers or leaves, coloured paper or gemstones representing flowers, animals, plants, good luck charms or abstract art. It is a symbol of the good will and the joy that fills our hearts after a long dark winter. You can read more about this here: http://en.wikipedia.org/
We will manufacture the "martisoare" ourselves, and we will then sell them in the university next week to raise money for the children.
We will meet on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 4 PM to 8 PM in the reading room in Caminul 13 to produce the martisoare. You are encouraged to bring anything - materials and ideas - you would like to use for the production of the martisoare.
With the money raised we will make a library at the Oncology section of the Children's Hospital. The books will be books from your own countries, we will open a list of suggestions for this later next month.
In this way you will feel that you have made a contribution to Timisoara, to the society and to those children.
We know you all have a sensitive part, so let's do this together!
